Hi, I'm Brian Gilbert.  I've been enjoying sea kayaking for some years now off the beautiful coast of Western Australia.  

 

Having retired as a carpenter gave me time to indulge my passion for woodworking as a craft.  I built myself a Shrike Greenland style kayak and a couple of paddles to accompany it.  My friends suggested that I start making paddles for sale, so here we are.

Using a combination of Western Red Cedar and composite materials such as carbon kevlar for extra strength, I strive to create functional paddles with an awesome strength-to-weight ratio that makes for a lightweight yet highly durable paddle that is a joy to use. 

 

Each unique handmade Seablade paddle has its own characteristics, as individual as each paddler.
